Trauma and a Blessing

So this week may not have been that eventful for Josh, but for Aaron and I, we had quite a bit happen. All of our excitement mainly happened on Friday. I was feeding Aaron, and all of a sudden the entire contents of his stomach emptied onto me, the bed, and everything else. So I cleaned that up, finished feeding him, and put him down for a nap.
When he woke up I needed a new place to feed him again. We went out to the front room and I placed him on a pillow on the couch. I then walked over to turn on the light, and when I turned around he was tilting over the side of the couch and continued to slip and fall and landed right on the top of his head. I freaked out, of course. He screamed and screamed. I felt like the worst mom in the entire world.
After close inspection, Aaron is fine, and I realize now that if I had placed him on the pillow nearer to the couch rather than in the middle of the pillow this probably would never have happened. Hindsight really is 20/20. Needless to say, I will not be doing that again.
Yesterday was the baby blessing for my cousin Kayleigh's baby, Nathan. It was really fun to spend time with them and to see the two babies together. We figured out that Aaron and Nathan are about 38 hours apart. I also got a cute photo of the daddies and their sons.

  1. Not at all to minimize it, but it happens. I am constantly underestimating Morgan's abilities, and have had quite a few near traumas. And then a couple weeks ago I put her right in the center of the bed for probably ten seconds to grab my jeans and I heard a thud... apparently she can roll faster than I thought. I felt terrible and cried as much as she did. I just had to keep reminding myself that kids fall and she's okay. That's what I mean about it happens--it happens to everyone at some point or another. So other than making me feel completely incompetent, all is well. I know Aaron is just fine... and chalk it up to the bumpy road of learning to be a mother. :) You'll both/all be okay.

And yes, the spit up (and pee and otherwise... I had a poop spot on my shirt at stake conference last week. Classy!) do somehow get everywhere.

  2. Yikes! That is so scary! Graham fell off the counter one time, Travis sort of caught him so he didn't fall as hard as he could of, but I got totally freaked out, called the doctor and everything. It was probably the scariest moment ever! I'm glad that things are going well, I hope to see you guys soon!
